Borovnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A prominent landmark of Borovnice is the Borovnice No. 36 farmstead ensemble: it has been protected as a cultural monument since 17 September 2024.

Culture and History

The Borovnice No. 36 farmstead is a very well-preserved and exceptionally valuable example from a heritage-conservation perspective of a monumentally designed, masonry, two-storey village house dating from the period after the mid-19th century, with a regionally characteristic courtyard enclosed on all four sides. The stone cross at farmstead No. 36, dating from the second half of the 19th century, is part of the large rural estate and documents the development of housing, as well as the life and livelihood of a more prosperous farmer in the Žďárské vrchy. Borovnice is also home to preserved masonry farmsteads that document the region's folk architecture.

The Chapel of St. Joachim and St. Anna in Borovnice dates from 1900. The former Catholic Chapel of St. Anna was deconsecrated and demolished in 1790. An Evangelical church dating from 1886 is associated with the region's cultural heritage.

The Feltlův mlýn also combines historic technology with present-day use: the Francis turbine dates from 1911 and remains in operation. The Francisův Lokál at Feltlův mlýn can be rented for special occasions.

In the centre of Borovnice lies the flat Tříkrálový kámen, which comes from the Svratka. A relief of Jan Hus by the sculptor Julius Pelikán was placed in the Tříkrálový kámen in 1920; the years 1415, 1915 and 1918 are also engraved in it.

Nature and Landscape

Borovnice lies in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The Prosička natural monument is located in the cadastral area of Borovnice u Jimramova and protects a geomorphologically distinctive gneiss rock complex in the form of a rock wall at the summit, with surrounding block screes.

Near Borovnice, the Svratka forms a natural boundary between Bohemia and Moravia. The Svratka valley near Krásné is part of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and is also a site of European significance.

Trails

Borovnice lies on a yellow-marked hiking trail in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. A hiking route from Telecí reaches Borovnice via cycle path No. 4106. Cycle path No. 4025 runs through Borovnice.

Prosička lies on the blue-marked hiking trail from Javorek to Jimramov.
