Zubří: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The landscape around Zubří lies at an altitude of approximately 500 to 800 metres, is gently hilly and predominantly covered with coniferous forests. Zubří is located on a blue-marked hiking trail in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area.

Landscape and Trails

The local hiking trails are mostly short, feature moderate climbs and lead through a quiet, picturesque landscape. There are numerous quiet, lightly trafficked routes suitable for cycling in the vicinity of Zubří.

The Posázavská long-distance cycle route is signposted along road III/36039. A circular route approximately seven kilometres long also begins in Zubří and leads through the natural surroundings. The circular route heads towards Zuberský rybník; there it also follows the educational trail route “In the Footsteps of the Last Wolf”.

Culture and Customs

The Zuberská Chapel was consecrated on 25 September 1904. Since 1968, a church service has been held there regularly on the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul; on this day, the inhabitants of Zubří celebrate the Zuber pilgrimage.

The tradition of the Masopust masquerade procession in Zubří was revived in 2001. During the Masopust procession, the masked participants, accompanied by music, visit all the houses in Zubří. Martinské hody is celebrated on the Sunday closest to the feast of Saint Martin, but not every year.

History

In the garden of house no. 12 in the direction of Pohledec stands a small technical monument, almost hidden by the tree crowns: a windmill from the 1930s. It was formerly used to pump water and supply the entire property, including the garden; during the war, it was also used provisionally to grind flour.

The “Jára Cimrman’s Footprint” was created by children from the Černé ovce camp, 2nd session, at Bidláky, and ceremonially unveiled on 16 August 2006 at “Téčko” behind the BVV.
