Radňoves: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Radňoves is a ring-shaped forest-strip settlement founded in the Middle Ages, whose fields extend radially into the surrounding landscape. The village lies on the edge of the Velkomeziříčský Bioregion and borders the Sýkořský Bioregion directly; from a biogeographical perspective, the municipality belongs to the Hercynian subprovince.

Landscape

The Radňoves area has a transitional flora of the two bioregions, with submontane species such as hairy sedge, trifoliate bittercress and round-leaved sundew. The fauna of Radňoves includes, among others, eastern and western hedgehogs, noble crayfish, freshwater pearl mussels, fire salamanders, smooth newts, sand lizards and smooth snakes. According to the municipality, some of the species mentioned are listed in the Red Book.

Víckov is a mountain in the vicinity of Radňoves. The area around Radňoves also includes Duforty, Ambrožný and Babylon; all three are mountains.

History

Next to the chapel in Radňoves stands a stone cross donated by the residents of Radňoves in 1913.

Culture

A distinctive cultural feature is the fire-fighting technology museum in Radňoves, which volunteer firefighters began establishing in 2008. The museum preserves written, photographic and film archive materials and can be visited by prior arrangement by telephone.

On 26 August 2018, Radňoves hosted the 22nd meeting of enthusiasts of historic fire-fighting technology, attended by more than one hundred firefighters with historic equipment. To this day, the Radňoves fire brigade preserves a hand-operated, four-wheeled, horse-drawn fire pump; among other things, the firefighters took it to the filming of the movie “Andělské oči”.

Cycle route 5245 runs from Nová Ves via Radňoves to the turnoff near Vidonín. Veveří Castle, a castle, and Brno Zoo, a zoo, are located in the wider regional surroundings of Radňoves.
