Sklené: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sklené is located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and in the highest part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The European watershed between the Elbe and Danube also runs near Sklené.

Nature and Landscape

The Olšina u Skleného Nature Reserve protects riparian forest ecosystems, meadows and pastures, mat-grass meadows, as well as lowland and transitional bogs. The Lemperský Brook rises from a spring in Sklené.

The mountains of Žákova hora, Devět Skal, Světka and Rosička are located in the vicinity of Sklené.

History and Townscape

The first written mention of Sklené dates back to 1407. The name Sklené is interpreted as referring to a settlement of glassmakers that arose near the abandoned Bratroňovice farmstead.

A stone cross below the chapel in Sklené bears the year 1832. Sklené also has a fire station.

Cross-Country Skiing near Sklené

There are cross-country ski trails near Sklené leading towards Světnov, Škrdlovice and Velké Dářko. Because of a section through the forest, the connection between Sklené and Tři Studně is usually groomed only for classic cross-country skiing.
