Bohuňov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Bohuňov lies at a distinctive intersection of natural areas, routes and small-scale cultural heritage: The boundary of the Svratecká hornatina Nature Park runs through the village’s cadastral area.
Nature around the village
The Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area also extends into the surrounding area. The southeastern tip of the protected area lies approximately 0.5 km from the northwestern to southwestern edge of Bohuňov’s cadastral area; it is bounded by the Lísek–Skalský dvůr road and its junction with road I/19.
Domanínský rybník lies south of Bohuňov. The pond is used for swimming and fishing and is approximately 1.5 km from Bohuňov via field paths. White storks regularly nest in the village.
Culture and village character
The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was converted from a bell tower in 1929 and consecrated on 5 July 1929. Opposite it stands a stone cross dated 1859.
A wayside shrine known as Boží muka stands beside a field path behind Bohuňov; according to the inscription on its stone plaque, it was created in 1739. Another testimony to the village character is the three-sided masonry farmstead No. 17. It is a preserved example of Horácko folk architecture and bears an inscription from 1857 in the gable.
Hiking, family activities and winter
A yellow hiking trail runs approximately north–south through Bohuňov. A green hiking trail leads from the Pletenice forest along a field path following the cadastral boundary between Janovičky and Písečné.
The marked circular trail „To the Luční bar at Dráček Poplety“ leads from Hotel Skalský dvůr through Bohuňov to Pletenice hill near Lísek. Below the hill is a self-service Luční Bar at Dráček Poplety. The excursion is 7 km long, takes approximately 2 hours and is suitable for preschool children.
In good snow conditions, a groomed cross-country skiing route can be used from neighboring Domanín via Skalský rybník and past Hotel Skalský dvůr to Zuberský rybník and onward to the central part of the Žďárské vrchy.
Cycling and getting there
The 137 km-long „EUROVELO 4 + PRAGUE ROUTE“ cycle route passes through Bohuňov before reaching Bystřice.
Rozsochy railway station is 3.5 km from Bohuňov and can be used for arriving by train. Bohuňov also has a bus connection, including a direct bus route to Brno.
