Březejc: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the southeastern edge of the Březejc planning area lies the Březejcký les regional biocentre, with mixed forests, wetlands, meadows and aquatic habitats. It includes the small Holánek pond and a wet cultural landscape meadow. Březejc is located on the road between Velké Meziříčí and Ořechov.

Nature and Trails

Forests cover 34.5% of the cadastral area of Březejc. Cycle route 5242 runs through Březejc, following the road towards Ořechov. A blue-marked hiking trail runs along the southern edge of the Březejc cadastral area.

The marked cycle route 5240 between Tasov and Bohdalec extends into the Březejc planning area. Via an existing paved farm road between Březejc and Jabloňov, Březejc can connect in Jabloňov to the marked long-distance hiking trail Třebíč–Budišov–Tasov–Jabloňov–Ořechov–Velká Bíteš–Bílý potok Valley–Veverská Bítýška.

History and Traditions

Březejc is first mentioned in 1371 under the name Brzesye. Březejc is home to the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. Next to the chapel stands a memorial cross commemorating the soldiers from Březejc who fell in the First World War.

The Pomník Ladislav Klimek memorial stands in a forest 600 metres west of the edge of Březejc. It commemorates the Czechoslovak pilot por. Ladislav Klimek, who died there on 16 May 1957 when a MiG-15 fighter aircraft crashed.

Březejc takes part in the Feast of Saint Giles pilgrimage in Ruda, with the municipalities of the parish making harvest wreaths and harvest flowers and carrying them in a traditional-costume procession before Mass.
