Sirákov is located near the historic border between Bohemia and Moravia. The Sirákovský potok stream flows through the village; it rises 1 km east of Sirákov.

Landscape

Blažkov and Rosička are named mountains in the immediate vicinity of Sirákov. Světka and Dědkovská hora are named mountains in the surrounding area of Sirákov.

A blue-marked hiking trail begins at the intersection of the Sirákov–Újezd road, crosses the Sirákov–Bohdalov road, and reaches a viewpoint at 680 m above sea level. A blue-marked hiking trail also continues through the Blažkov area to Sirákov, where the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is located.

History and Culture

František Augustin was born on 24 May 1846 in House No. 1 in Sirákov near Polná in the Žďár nad Sázavou District. He died on 1 December 1908 and became the most significant figure in Czech meteorology in the second half of the 19th century.

On Blažkov stands the Čechy–Morava boundary stone, a 170 cm-high stone prism measuring 25 × 25 cm in width. It stands at the edge of the forest on the road toward Újezd. The boundary stone site was restored in 2015 and, in the immediate vicinity, features a historic information board with a map, a display case containing a uniformed soldier, and a covered bench with a visitors’ book.

The Sirákov Volunteer Fire Brigade regularly organizes a gathering on Blažkov on Christmas Eve. Traditionally, potatoes are roasted in the ashes and tea is prepared in a kettle over the fire.
