Ujčov showcases nature and local history within a small area: west of the village lie the Ujčovské waterfalls, while the Svratka River flows south of Ujčov through deep, wooded valleys. There are also marked trails, historic buildings and a regional product made from fruit grown in the neighbouring orchards.

Nature

The Ujčovské waterfalls form a cascade system with two main stages that reach a combined height of 9 metres. The banks of the Svratka south of Ujčov are also home to a population of the protected ostrich fern. In the Ujčov area, the river winds through deep, wooded valleys.

The Babylon viewpoint near Kovářová is situated at an altitude of 626 metres above sea level. From there, visitors can enjoy views of the surrounding area.

Trails

Marked cycle route 4025 from Polička to Nedvědice passes through Ujčov. A simple 7.6-kilometre walk from Štěpánov nad Svratkou to Nedvědice also passes through the village. Most of this route follows the red trail marking as far as the church in Nedvědice; the final section to the railway station follows the yellow marking.

Culture and History

The village district of Dolní Čepí is home to the Kostel sv. Václava, a state-protected cultural monument. A monument commemorating Second World War partisan units was erected between Horní Čepí and Dolní Čepí in 1975. In the centre of Ujčov, three large-leaved lime trees stand near the war memorial.

The Kaple sv. Františka z Assisi in Ujčov has a multi-storey rectangular tower with a curved roof and a covered, functioning wooden belfry. It was restored and consecrated in 1993 by Brno Bishop V. Cikrle and is probably a vernacular structure built on the site of an older belfry.

Local Products

A cider press is located in the Kasany district of Ujčov, where fruit from the neighbouring orchards is processed. Ujčovský mošt can be purchased directly from the farm, at farmers’ markets and in selected shops.
