Bačkovice: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

The defining landmark of the village of Bačkovice is the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius. It is an important historic monument of Bačkovice.

Culture and History

Bačkovice Fortress was destroyed in 1468 during the Bohemian–Hungarian War. The probable location of the fortress is on the left bank of the Želetavka, directly by the bridge at the northern end of the village; its location has not yet been confirmed archaeologically.

The wayside shrine known as “Boží muka” is located in the fields about 1 km south of Bačkovice, at the Police–Dešná crossroads. In the Bačkovice planning area, it is classified as an immovable cultural monument.

Nature and Landscape

The regional biocentre RBC 544 Šimkův mlýn extends into the cadastral area of Bačkovice. In the Bačkovice planning area, forests, watercourses, ponds and valley floodplains are considered important landscape elements.

On one side of the valley, the forest reaches right up to the village houses of Bačkovice.

Getting Around

The route through the Želetavka Valley leads via Jemnice, Radotice, Bačkovice, Šimkův mlýn, Lubnice, Police and Jiratice back to Jemnice. The marked Cycle Route 26 runs from Jemnice through the Želetavka Valley to Bačkovice.
