Čížkov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Čížkov Château is a Neoclassical building that was remodelled in the 19th century in the late Empire style. The interior of the château is not open to the public.

History and culture

Knight Milíčovský had a château built in Čížkov in 1654. Today, the village is home to a permanent exhibition of paintings by the Nezávislá národní valašská galerie. The Czech writer, humorist and national revivalist František Jaromír Rubeš was born in 1814 in the local brewery in Čížkov.

Walser was the author and builder of the Jewish synagogue in Nová Cerekev, constructed in 1855 in the pseudo-Moorish style.

Nature and trails

One of Čížkov’s features is a field maple designated as a memorial tree. The 92-kilometre Litohošť–Sosnový les riding trail passes through the village. The “Kolem kapliček na Pelhřimovsku” route also passes a Neoclassical château dating from 1785 in Čížkov.

Surroundings

The surroundings of Čížkov include Orlov Mountain, Putimovský vrch, Vrchy and Troják. The Želivský Kláštor monastery and the churches of Svatá Anna and Svatý Jan are also located nearby.
