Ročov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ročov can be explored through its tangible architectural and natural features. The complex of the Augustinian monastery in Dolní Ročov is protected as a cultural monument and is a Baroque ensemble; its church was built according to a design by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.

Culture and History

The Augustinian monastery complex includes the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a garden, a cemetery, a mortuary and surrounding walls. Opposite the church in Ročov stands a Baroque statue of the Madonna dating from 1713. Behind the monastery in Dolní Ročov, the Baroque gate portal of the former convent brewery can also be seen.

In Horní Ročov, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was founded in 1355 and rebuilt in 1833. About 200 metres from the square in the direction of Louny, a Baroque niche chapel dedicated to Saint Adalbert stands on the left side of the road.

Orientation

The tower of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Horní Ročov serves as a landmark, particularly when viewed from the main road. It is visible in long-distance views from the south.

A green-marked hiking trail connects the bus stop in Ročov with the monastery in Dolní Ročov over a distance of 1 km. The Augustinian monastery complex in Dolní Ročov is accessible only during a Mass or by prior arrangement with the deanery in Louny.

Nature and Trails

A lime tree designated as a natural monument stands on Ročov’s square; its age is estimated at around 200 years.

The Stezka Panny Marie Področovské educational trail presents historical and natural attractions in the surroundings of Ročov, in the Džbán Nature Park. There is a disc golf course in the recreational area near the monastery.
