Raná U Loun: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Raná originated at the northwestern foot of the basalt hill of the same name. The approximately 3.5 km-long, easy walking trail “A Walk Through the Gopher’s Paradise on Raná Hill” leads directly to the summit of the Raná steppe hill near Louny in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area.

Nature

Raná is a three-peaked massif with an elevation of 457 m. The Raná National Nature Reserve covers 10.9 ha and was established in 1951. It preserves rare remnants of natural communities of the Central European continental steppes on softer Cretaceous sediments, as well as partly on an exposed basaltic volcanic body that was originally underground.

Things to Do

The “A Walk Through the Gopher’s Paradise” trail runs along rocky paths that are unsuitable for bicycles and strollers. It can be reached by bus; in Raná, there is a paid car park by the Skleník restaurant.

Since 2021, the “At the Foot of Raná” educational trail has run at the foot of Raná and is suitable for families with children.

Culture and History

The All Saints Church complex in Raná is protected as a cultural monument. The complex includes an exterior staircase and a gate in the enclosing wall.

The All Saints Church is the oldest building in Raná. It may originally have been Romanesque and still features Gothic and Baroque stylistic elements; it is mentioned in writing as early as 1384.

Flying at Raná

Historical gliding at Raná, the southernmost mountain of the České středohoří, began on the morning of 2 September 1932 with the first launch. The summit of Raná is used for unpowered flying. Flight courses and tandem flights are offered at Raná.
