Holedeč: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A tourist route runs through Holedeč, beginning in Holedeček and leading to Výrov. At 509 m above sea level, it is the highest point in the Džbán Nature Park.

Nature and Trails

Na Pískách lies northeast of Holedeč, a sandstone plateau landscape on the northwestern edge of the Džbán Nature Park. The Holedeč forest educational trail consists of two circular routes, each 4 km long. It runs mainly through pine forests and along the sunny Na Pískách meadow, where rare steppe plants grow.

The network of the main field paths in the Na Pískách area connects Holedeč and Stránky and also serves as a route for pedestrians and cyclists. The “Forest Stroll with Hopík” educational trail was intended primarily for the recreation and relaxation of forest visitors.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Bartholomew in Holedeček has been documented in writing since 1346. It burned down in 1737 and was rebuilt in its present Baroque form. In addition to the church building, the entire listed complex includes the perimeter wall and the mortuary.

Smaller religious buildings are also part of the local landscape: the Baroque niche chapel at the Veletice–Stránky crossroads is a listed monument. The chapel with a bell in Stránky was entered on the list of monuments as a state-protected cultural monument.

The listed house with barn No. 36 is a 19th-century farmhouse with a wooden veranda and documents the traditional folk architecture of the Žatec region. An earring found in Holedeč was described as the fifth known specimen of its kind in Bohemia.

Location and Railway Line

The municipality of Holedeč lies on the Lužná u Rakovníka–Chomutov railway line; the station stop is located in Veletice.
