Postoloprty: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Postoloprty’s historic character is particularly evident in its château: it is considered a valuable example of a large Baroque aristocratic residence and a distinctive landmark of the town. The large Baroque building has two storeys, three wings and pavilion-like structures at the corners; it was built in 1611 on the site of an earlier fortress.
Culture and History
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is also part of Postoloprty’s defining architecture. The single-nave church has a clock tower and five altars: one main altar and four side altars.
At the southern edge of Postoloprty lies Hradiště Drahuš, one of the few swamp castles in the Czech Republic. The fortification dates from the 10th to the 11th century; the northern rampart is preserved at a height of more than two metres.
