The Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist is a prominent landmark of Libčeves. The late Romanesque building was constructed in the 1230s and 1240s; its presbytery was built at the turn of the 1450s and 1460s. The single-nave church dates from the second quarter of the 13th century.

Culture and History

The history of Libčeves Chateau is also closely connected with the church: the original fortress stood near the Romanesque church. At its present location on the hill, the Žerotín family built the chateau in the 14th century.

The ruins of Hradek Oltářík, Hrádek, Sukoslav and Hazmburk are located in the vicinity of Libčeves.

Nature

The mountains of Líska, Křižové vršky, Číčov and Dlouhá lie in the immediate vicinity of Libčeves. Mlýnský vrch rises south of Libčeves as a low basalt hill. An extensive steppe meadow stretches along its southwestern slope, home to rare and protected plants.
