Hora Svaté Kateřiny: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hora Svaté Kateřiny is located in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains on the Saxon border. The town was originally a mining settlement and combines this history with cultural sites and viewpoints.

Mining history

Silver was already mined on the slopes of Městský vrch before 1520. Later, copper was also mined on the slopes of Městský vrch. The Mikulášská štola was used for mining silver and copper in the Middle Ages.

Underground

Regular guided tours of the Mikulášská štola are offered without prior registration. Currently, around 420 m have been restored and are accessible to the public.

Culture and viewpoints

Kostel sv. Kateřiny was built in 1611–1612 and remodelled in the Baroque style in 1785. In front of Kostel sv. Kateřiny stands a Pietà statue dating from 1729.

Rozhledna Hláska is a 16 m-high observation tower with a covered glass viewing platform and panoramic views of the Kateřina Valley and Saxony.

Local practical information

Karavan camp provides hikers, tourists and cyclists with sanitary facilities, including showers.
