The oldest written record of Chotěšov dates back to 1057.
Culture and History
In 1144, King Vladislav I donated Chotěšov to the newly founded Premonstratensian convent in Doksany. The Chotěšov parish was re-established in 1852. The built-up area of Chotěšov and its immediate surroundings are also registered as an area with archaeological finds.
Church and Parish House
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Chotěšov was first documented in 1352 as the property of Doksany Monastery and was completely rebuilt between 1730 and 1737. On 15 August 1737, the day the new church was consecrated, the Chotěšov Madonna, a Gothic wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, was carried in a procession from the church in Libochovice to Chotěšov.
Regular services are not held in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; moreover, it is not accessible to people with disabilities. The parish house complex at No. 37 comprises the rectory, a barn with a stable, a barn, the gardener's house, the parish garden, a front garden, a gate, an enclosing wall with a small wicket gate, and a garden gate.
Transport and Trails
Regional railway line No. 114 from Lovosice to Louny and Žatec runs through the western part of the administrative area of the municipality of Chotěšov; Chotěšov pod Hazmburkem railway stop is located there. Regular bus services connect Chotěšov with Lovosice and Libochovice, as well as with Litoměřice and Libochovice.
Neither a hiking trail nor a cycling route runs through Chotěšov. The nearest hiking trail is marked red and runs west around Chotěšov, through the southern area near Libochovice to Doksany in the east.
Excursion
On excursion U10 along the Švestková dráha, you can return from Třebenice to Lovosice via Chotěšov, Vrbičany and Siřejovice, following its own route for approximately 15 km.
