Újezd: Apartments and holiday homes

Újezd is situated amid the forests of the Brocenská pahorkatina, which forms part of the Dokeská pahorkatina. Between wooded landscapes, traces of history and regional characteristics, the village presents a diverse image.

Landscape and nature

At 348 m, Újezdský Špičák is the highest peak of Štětsko. When Antonín Veith owned the Liběchov estate, a wooden lookout tower stood on this mountain. A basalt quarry on Újezdský Špičák was exhausted at the end of the 19th century.

The Kokořínsko Natura 2000 site overlaps with the Kokořínsko - Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area. At the same time, the Kokořínsko Natura 2000 site includes the cadastral area of Újezd u Chcebuze. Historically, there were numerous orchards in the vicinity of Újezd.

History and rural heritage

The first written references to Újezd date from 1230 to 1253. Initially, Újezd was owned by the Vyšehrad Chapter; from 1519, the village belonged to Snědovice.

The village’s history has also been marked by setbacks: in 1860, a fire in Újezd destroyed twelve typical farmsteads. The cultivation of red hop varieties, which were of excellent quality in Újezd in the 19th century, offers another insight into the rural past.
