Nature

The Blšanský Chlum area is designated as a European site of importance for the protection of the Jersey tiger moth (Callimorpha quadripunctaria) and includes xerothermic biotopes as well as rare and specially protected plant and invertebrate species. The geologically significant area of Blšanský Chlum and its surroundings is partly exposed by a disused quarry and natural outcrops of Tertiary volcanic rocks.

Routes

Cycle route No. 202 “Louny – Peruc” runs through Blšany u Loun: it leads from Černčice via road III/22941 into the centre of the village and then eastwards along a local road to Veltěže. The yellow-marked hiking trail No. 6940 “Louny, náměstí – Blšanský chlum – Brloh” also runs through the municipality. There, it branches off towards Blšanský chlum and then continues in the direction of Chlumčany and Brloh.

Culture and history

The Blšany u Loun château originated from an older fortified manor; its remains are now incorporated into the residential section of the château. The fortified complex was converted into a Baroque château in the second half of the 17th century. The château, together with its granary, is registered as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 42653/5-1149.

The war memorial in Blšany u Loun was erected in 1947 in memory of local victims of the Second World War. It also commemorates inhabitants who fell in the First World War or did not return from the battlefields. At the memorial, a newly created access path outside the fenced area and a newly laid lawn are available.

Water

The Rybník pond is located in the centre of Blšany u Loun, near the children’s playground and Blšanský château. Fishing permits for Rybník are available at the municipal office during office hours.

Local life

The sports centre in Blšany u Loun has a hall or gymnasium and table tennis; both can be reserved for a fee by prior telephone arrangement with the municipal office. In 2026, beadwork and wirework sessions with Alena Prailová are regularly held at the library in Blšany u Loun, every Thursday from 17:00 to 19:00, unless another event is scheduled.
