Wischau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Wischau, ZOO PARK Vyškov focuses primarily on keeping domestic and farm animals from around the world. In the Dvoreček naší babičky area, visitors can come into direct contact with domestic animals and feed or pet kids, lambs and other animals.

History and Culture

Hanácký statek is a replica of a farm dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Traditional materials were used, such as reeds for the roof and clay plaster inside; period farm features and agricultural equipment are also on display.

Vyškov Castle was converted from a Gothic castle dating from the 15th century between 1665 and 1682. The castle houses Muzeum Vyškovska, with eight permanent exhibitions and changing exhibitions. It also features an extensive collection of vyškovské lidové keramiky. This pottery was produced in Vyškov from the early 18th century until 1945.

Zámecká zahrada features a loggia dating from 1673 with seven arcades and Tuscan columns; the upper section is decorated with a balustrade. The Chapel of sv. Anny is a Renaissance building from the 16th century with fragments of wall paintings. In the Chapel of svaté Anny, these fragments are signed with the year 1584.

The Renesanční radnice was built in 1569 and preserves remnants of a Renaissance shelter, Renaissance marquetry doors and stucco decoration from the 18th century. The former synagogue of Vyškov is part of the town's conservation area; its restoration in 2024 highlighted its art-historical significance in connection with the history of the Jews in Moravia.

Things to Do

The 60 km Srdcem jižní Moravy cycling route runs from Vyškov to Blansko and connects the attractive Drahanská vrchovina and Moravian Karst areas.

Markets

Vyškovské trhy take place at Masarykovo náměstí every other Wednesday and offer baked goods, cheese, fruit, vegetables and wicker goods.
