Chvalkovice: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes
Chvalkovice combines sacred architectural history, a historic windmill, and nearby Hradisko (Boří) with additional hills, castle ruins, and a château park in the surrounding region.
Culture and Local History
A central historical landmark is the Church of Saint Bartholomew in Chvalkovice. It is first documented in 1389 and acquired its present form through Baroque renovations around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside is a monumental Baroque altar, created shortly after 1760 and consisting of a mensa, a tabernacle with an altarpiece, elaborate sculptures, and stucco decorations. The church was completely restored between 2000 and 2012.
A plague column on the village square commemorates the plague epidemic of 1715. Another distinctive structure is the Chvalkovice windmill: the brick Dutch-type windmill is located approximately 500 metres east of the municipality of Chvalkovice. It began milling in 1873; its first miller and builder was Josef Vítek.
Landscape and Trails
Hradisko (Boří), a wooded summit at an elevation of 518 metres north of Chvalkovice, lies in the immediate surroundings. Hradisko is located in the cadastral areas of Chvalkovice and Nemochovice. The archaeological site has connections to the Aurignacian and the Bell Beaker culture.
From Chvalkovice, Hradisko can be reached via a 1.5 km red-marked hiking trail; at the edge of the forest there is a tourist shelter with seating. A 19 km hiking route starts in Chvalkovice u Bučovic and reaches Hradisko after 2 km.
Cyclists will also find a clearly defined route connection: the 51 km KČT cycling route passes through Chvalkovice u Bučovic at kilometre 30.
