A distinctive detail of Topolany can be found behind the main altar of St. Nicholas Church: hanging there is a painting of Saint Nicholas by the Viennese painter Felix Leichert.

Church and Local History

Services are regularly held at St. Nicholas Church in Topolany on Sundays and once on a weekday. The cemetery in Topolany contains the graves of the parents of Klement Gottwald.

Community, Sports and Events

The local community centre in Topolany can be used for cultural events and similar gatherings. At the multi-purpose sports field, you can play tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball and nohejbal.

On 20 June 2026, Topolany hosted the 13th edition of the young firefighters’ competition in firefighting attack. The Halloween-Steecke was also announced for 2 November 2024 as a traditional autumn experience trail with lights, lanterns, illuminated figures and a spooky challenge. A Christmas market was announced for 7 December 2024 in Topolany as a permanent part of the Advent season, where visitors could buy handicrafts, traditional Christmas ornaments, decorations and regional specialities; children’s workshops were also planned.

Trails and Landscape

A blue-marked hiking trail runs along the southern edge of Topolany. It leads from Vyškov towards the Orlovická vrchovina highlands and to the ruins of Orlov Castle.

The ruins of Hrádek and Kuchlov, as well as the Hradisko and Předina mountains, are located in the vicinity of Topolany. In the wider region are the Urban and Chlum mountains, the Pomník obětem 1. světové války memorial, and Buchlov Castle.
