The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Vážany nad Litavou was originally built in the Romanesque style in the 13th century and restored in 1651. Its portal bears traces associated with two fighters who took part in the Crusades of the 13th century. The Stations of the Cross were renovated and opened to visitors in the church in 2018. The oldest written mention of Vážany nad Litavou dates from 1287. The late Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1739, created by Fr. V. Solnický, also stands by the church.

Another historical landmark is located outside the village: the Baroque wayside shrine from 1806 stands on the southern edge of Vážany nad Litavou in the direction of Kobeřice. It is a valuable historical example of small-scale Neoclassical sacred architecture and a distinctive architectural element of the landscape.

Nature

Vážany nad Litavou lies on the left bank of the Litava River. A cycling route around the Slavkov battlefield passes through the village: it runs from Slavkov u Brna through Vážany nad Litavou and then via Hrušky to Křenovice and is 31 kilometres long.

The Slavkov battlefield can also be explored on foot along a green hiking trail. The route is approximately 18 kilometres long and runs exclusively along field paths. The hiking trail is connected to several railway stops.

Culinary Experiences

The 24th edition of the slivovitz tasting took place in Vážany nad Litavou. A total of 102 samples of fruit spirits were tasted.
