Komořany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Komořany showcases striking evidence of its history and a diverse landscape within a small area. The Church of Saint Barbara contains Baroque fresco-secco paintings signed by Ignatz Oderlitzky and dated 1755. At the same time, the church has an Early Gothic core dating from the second half of the 13th century.

Culture

The Church of Saint Barbara is one of Komořany’s four cultural monuments. The statue of Saint Florian is also one of the four cultural monuments. In addition, next to the Church of Saint Barbara in Komořany stands the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, created in 1736.

Nature and Landscape

The Rakovec stream flows through Komořany. The surrounding area includes Urban Hill and the ruins of Hrádek and Kuchlov. Stepní stráně u Komořan forms a distinctive landscape: the area comprises sub-Pannonian steppe grasslands, near-natural dry calcareous grasslands and calcareous rocky vegetation on slopes, with rare and specially protected plant and animal species, including the large-flowered pasque flower and Pannonian Scharda, as well as the Mechovkový útes limestone rock.

Surroundings and Trails

The hill (Pekla) [Komořany na Moravě] is located in the immediate vicinity of Komořany. In the wider regional surroundings lie Radlovec Hill and Stádla Hill. The Brno Zoo and the sady Osvobození park are also located there. A green-marked hiking trail leads from the bus stop in Komořany to the Žalmanův kámen trail junction.
