Bošovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Bošovice fortress is the municipality’s most distinctive landmark and is visible from afar. During reconstruction work, the tower was altered at the end of the 1960s and particularly at the end of the 1980s; a bailey was also added. The fortress was first mentioned in 1398 in connection with a place called “Kopec”.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Stanislaus also preserves several historical traces. Its nave contains Gothic remains. The building has a single nave and is oriented, with a rectangular floor plan and a rectangular chancel. The tower was added in 1851; at that time, the chancel was also extended and an organ was installed.

The evangelical bell tower in Bošovice was built in 1857 for the evangelical minority.

Nature

Viesgrunty lies about 2 km southwest of Bošovice. Steppe flora has been preserved on the southwesterly and westerly facing slopes. The area has been designated a protected natural monument since 1982.

The named mountain Vinohrady is also located in the immediate vicinity of Bošovice. The named mountains Nedánov, Urban and Radlovec are located nearby. Dívčí Hrady is a named ruin in the wider regional surroundings of Bošovice.

Experiences and Regional Destinations

The Parrot Zoo in Bošovice is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. A total of 200 parrots representing 52 species live there. Longer programmes at the Parrot Zoo Bošovice can also include a visit to the nearby Visengrunty nature reserve, combined with observing nest boxes, catching insects and identifying plants.

The Brno Zoo and the named parks Sady Osvobození and Park Lužánky are located in the wider regional surroundings of Bošovice.
