Strachotín: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Strachotín combines culture, nature and wine into a diverse local character with distinctive historical and scenic features.
Culture and history
Above Strachotín stands the Památník Velké Moravy monument. The sandstone structure consists of two statues depicting the Slavic apostles Cyril and Methodius; there is a cross-shaped opening between the statues. The monument also offers beautiful views of Pálava.
The Kostel sv. Oldřicha church was built in the 13th century and is one of the oldest Gothic churches in the Břeclav District.
Before Strachotín, on the road to Hustopeče near the turn-off to a field path towards Popice, stands the reconstructed Boží muka wayside shrine. Boží muka was added to the state register of immovable monuments in 1958.
Nature
The Věstonická nádrž nature reserve also extends into Strachotín. It protects an important aquatic and wetland ecosystem as well as specially protected plant and animal species.
Wine and events
On Sklepní ulice in Strachotín, near a pond, there are around 92 wine cellars that are more than 200 years old. The 2026 edition of “Za burčákem do Strachotína” is scheduled for Saturday, 19 September 2026.
Cycling route
The “Cyklostezka kemp Merkur” cycling route runs through Strachotín and follows the Strachotínský rybník pond. It has two variants: a longer, green-marked circular route of 27.5 km and a shorter, red-marked circular route of 15.5 km.
