Velké Pavlovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Velké Pavlovice is a place where viticulture, architectural history, folk culture and nature can be experienced in many different forms.

Viticulture and Special Wine Cellars

The Habánský vinný sklep of the Lacinovi family at V Údolí 154 dates from 1808 and is also home to the Vinařství Lacinovi winery. A typical example of a folk building from the Haná-Slovácko region dating from after 1700, it comprises a pressing room with a wooden wine press, a granary and an underground wine cellar.

From the end of April to the end of September, visitors can enter participating wine cellars as part of the OTEVŘENÉ VINNÉ SKLEPY programme, taste samples from local winemakers, tour the cellar facilities, ask questions about viticulture and winemaking, and purchase selected samples. The unusually shaped wine cellars of Vinařská ulička Pod Starou Horou are also called “opilé sklepy” (“drunken cellars”).

Views and Nature

The viewing platform of the Slunečná lookout tower is located at a height of 15 metres and can be reached via 75 steps. The Slunečná lookout tower can be reached by a path through the vineyards of the Nadzahrady wine-growing area near Velké Pavlovice.

The Zahájka biocentre offers a new natural area with a series of ponds, a wetland and planted vegetation.

History and Religious Buildings

In 1762, Velké Pavlovice came into the possession of the Habsburgs. Under their rule, the fortress was converted into a Baroque chateau, which was used to administer the estate.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in the Baroque style and is considered an example of so-called rural Baroque, which is frequently represented in the religious architecture of South Moravia. The Chapel of St Urban, the patron saint of all winemakers, is located near Velké Pavlovice on the border between the Poštory and Nad Zahradami wine-growing areas.

Festivals and Environmental Education

Krojované hody is the traditional folklore festival of Velké Pavlovice and an important social event of the year. Krojované hody includes a long-established ritual for selecting the Stárci and Sklepníci.

Velkopavlovické vinobraní is a revived tradition with historically documented roots and is considered a festival of the harvest, viticulture and art for all generations.

The Ekocentrum Trkmanka houses a permanent exhibition about the Velkopavlovická apricot, which was established in November 2013. The Ekocentrum Trkmanka was established as a basis for environmental education, awareness-raising, public relations and environmental counselling for families with children and the general public.
