Culture and Architectural History

The listed Church of the Most Holy Trinity was built between 1750 and 1757 based on a design by František Antonín Grimm. The Baroque building in the French style features simplified architectural forms and a cruciform floor plan; it is 36 m long, 11 m wide and 21 m high.

The listed Fara building was converted from an early Gothic church into a rectory at the end of the 16th century. Its façade preserves traces of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance windows, as well as early Baroque winged angel heads. Above the former entrance is an early Baroque stone-carved cartouche bearing the coat of arms of the Tiefenbach family.

Stará radnice is a listed Renaissance building whose architectural development dates back to the 16th century. Its interiors contain valuable Renaissance vaults and an uncovered, ornamented painted ceiling featuring a vine motif. It currently houses a tourist information centre.

Nature

Drnholecký luh is a 149.086 hectare Site of Community Importance with mixed floodplain forests and habitats of the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina) and the cinnabar flat-headed beetle (Cucujus cinnaberinus).

Drnholecký luh can be seen from the Rozhledna U Křížku; it belongs to the Natura 2000 network of European Sites of Community Importance. The Rozhledna U Křížku offers a view southwards towards Austria.

Cycling Route

The Po Moravské vinné stezce Mikulovskem cycling route runs through Drnholec and is part of Greenways Praha–Vídeň.

Wine

At Nové vinařství, groups of 8 or more people can book a guided wine tasting with a commentary-led tour of the production hall.

During the summer season, Nové vinařství offers self-guided wine tasting in a tasting room or on an outdoor terrace. The wine selection is provided via a By the Glass® self-service dispenser with three tasting quantities and three price levels.
