Krumvíř: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Krumvíř is connected with the Louky pod Kumstátem natural monument, which lies in the cadastral area of Krumvíř. It protects Pannonian loess steppe grasslands, broad-leaved dry grasslands and dry herbaceous fringes, as well as populations of specially protected and other significant plant species. These include the great pasque flower (Pulsatilla grandis), Russian bugloss (Echium russicum), Tatar breadweed (Crambe tataria) and the sickle-leaved saw-wort (Serratula lycopifolia).

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Krumvíř is an immovable cultural monument. It was consecrated on 26 June 1870. The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius dates from 1948. It commemorates the centenary of the abolition of corvée labour as well as surviving the passage of the war front without major damage.

The Krumvíř Museum includes a preserved wheelwright's workshop. The exhibits also include a boundary stone from 1724. The museum is currently open only during individual events and by prior arrangement.

Traditions

The folklore festival Kraj beze stínu was founded in Krumvíř in 1976. At the festival, Zavádka is presented as a ceremonial couple dance associated with the local feast tradition and performed in a walking style; in Slovácko, it is the only dance performed in 3/4 time. The entire festival site is accessible, except for the toilet area.

Slovácký verbuňk was added to the UNESCO List of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on 25 November 2005.

Events

Bartolomějské hody is celebrated in Krumvíř on the Sunday around 24 August. The Krumvíř Winemakers' Association also invites visitors to the traditional Josefský košt vín wine tasting. It takes place on Saturday, 14 March, from 1 p.m. at the cultural centre in Krumvíř.
