Above Klentnice lies Sirotčí hrádek, a Gothic castle ruin dating from the 13th century. The site is located on the adjacent Růžový vrch within the Tabulová National Nature Reserve and has been a protected monument since 1964.

Nature

The entire cadastral area of Klentnice belongs to the Pálava Protected Landscape Area. The Tabulová National Nature Reserve encompasses the flat summit of Stolová hora and the adjacent Růžový vrch with the ruins of Sirotčí hrádek.

Tabulová features a mosaic landscape of forests and various types of steppe. The rare Ethiopian sage grows there and is thought to be native to only this location in the Czech Republic.

Kočičí kámen is also part of the protected natural areas: the nature monument is characterized by a rocky limestone outcrop as its designated object of protection, while its dry grasslands are home to more than 200 species of higher plants.

History

Stolová hora contains archaeological evidence of settlement dating back to the Neolithic period and of a fortified Bronze Age settlement. Remains of ramparts and walls are still visible today. Access to Sirotčí hrádek is at your own risk.

In the center of Klentnice is a listed complex featuring the single-nave late Baroque Church of St. George. Cultural events held in Klentnice throughout the year include the Klentnické hody festival.
