Rakvice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rakvice is a wine-growing municipality with a long tradition of grape cultivation and an important ethnographic centre of the Hanácké Slovácko region.

Nature

Fishing is possible as a leisure activity at the Jezera ponds in Rakvice. The Trávníky pond has a beach with pavilions where swimming is possible in summer.

Kutnar Lake in Rakvice is an abandoned side arm of the Dyje with aquatic vegetation. Kutnar Pool is protected as a natural monument because of its remarkable algal flora.

Culture

The Church of St John the Baptist is a central cultural monument with registration number 1706. Including its cupola, the tower is 33.66 metres high. The church complex includes a mortuary and a timber-clad bell tower.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was created by Tomáš Schweigl in 1775. The Baroque cross in Rakvice dates from 1803 and is a central cultural monument with registration number 1708. The memorial by the Church of St John the Baptist commemorates the victims of both world wars and the Holocaust.

Classification

Rakvice is one of the six municipalities in the Lednice-Valtice Area, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
