Nikolčice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nikolčice lies in a basin open to the north, formed by the Nikolčický potok. The stream rises to the south above the municipality and flows into the Cézava near Židlochovice. On the edge of the Ždánický les, a varied landscape with rare steppe and woodland flora characterizes the surrounding area.

Culture and History

The parish church of St. James the Elder was built in 1777 on the site of an older, dilapidated church. It is associated with a pilgrimage held on 25 July. Nikolčice is also home to the Protestant church, which was built in 1862 and remodeled in a modern style in 1952.

The stone atonement cross U Josífka, also known as Nikolčický kříž, commemorates an event from 1663 during the Turkish invasions of Moravia.

Festivals and Wine

During Ostatky, Nikolčice hosts an annual wine exhibition with a tasting, organized jointly with the Nikolčice Association of Small Gardeners. At the end of July, the Jakubské hody festival takes place and includes the raising of a maypole. During these celebrations, music and singing can be heard throughout the village; participants in Nikolčice festive costumes dance beneath the maypole.

Sport and Community

The Nikolčické hry is a traditional school sports event attended by three to five Czech and Slovak schools. The Nikolčické hry lasts two days and includes football, handball, and athletics competitions.
