Lundenburg offers a direct introduction to the cultural history of Břeclav: At Břeclav Castle, only the viewing platform on the castle tower is currently accessible. The Renaissance castle was built on the foundations of an older castle and converted in the 19th century by the Liechtensteins in the Romantic style.

Culture and History

The synagogue in Břeclav also combines several eras. It was built in 1868 and renovated in 1888 by the Viennese architect Max Fleischer in the Neo-Romanesque style; Moorish elements were used in the interior. It was extensively reconstructed from 1997 to 1999 and is currently used for cultural and social purposes.

The Cukrovarský Bridge is a protected cultural monument and currently serves as a pedestrian bridge. The railway spur, which connected the sugar factory with the railway and was built in 1870, is part of the town’s industrial history.

The Lichtenštejnský dům houses a permanent exhibition on the history of the Liechtenstein family. It also displays 20 true-to-original miniatures of Liechtenstein monuments, based on the precise digitization of real buildings.

Paths and Exhibitions

The “Břeclavský chodníček” is a walking trail through the town of Břeclav. The Muzeum Pod vodárnou has barrier-free access for people with disabilities and families with strollers.

The Empire-style Pohansko chateau was built by the Liechtensteins between 1810 and 1812 for hunting purposes on the site of an older Slavic rampart. A new archaeological exhibition with audiovisual effects, touchscreens, special film projections, and other interactive elements opened at Zámeček Pohansko on September 12, 2023.
