Borkovany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Borkovany kraslice are a folk art tradition passed down from generation to generation. At the Expozice kraslic, an accompanying film explores their history and decoration; a local craftswoman also demonstrates Résování there.

Culture and History

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is registered as an immovable cultural monument. The gate of the Protestant cemetery has a square ground plan and a bell-tower level, and dates from 1857. It is considered an architecturally unique structure and an important art-historical monument of Borkovany.

In 2018, a total of nine crosses in the cadastral area of Borkovany were professionally reconstructed. The reconstructed crosses were placed at or near their original locations so that they would once again be accessible.

The Líchy forest near Borkovany is the last foothill of the Ždánický les. A marked cycle route runs through Borkovany, connecting the Lednice-Valtice Area with the Austerlitz battlefield. Borkovanský rybník is used for sport fishing.
