Starý Poddvorov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A prominent landmark in Starý Poddvorov is the Větrný mlýn Starý Poddvorov windmill. Built entirely of wood, the post mill dates from 1880 and stands on a hill about 3 km from Starý Poddvorov in the direction of Čejkovice, surrounded by vineyards and orchards. The grounds are open year-round; the windmill can also be viewed from the outside without a guided tour. There is also a stand run by local winemakers on the grounds. The winemakers take turns, so visitors can taste wines from a different producer on each visit; at least one winemaker is present at weekends.

Culture

Local folklore also has a clear focal point in Starý Poddvorov. The children's folklore ensemble Dětský folklorní soubor Kordulka was founded in September 1996 at the primary school in Starý Poddvorov. The Dětské krojované hody revived by Kordulka grew from a local event into a festival regularly attended by ensembles from the surrounding regions as well as from Poland and Slovakia.

Starý Poddvorov is also home to the costume rental service for the Podluží ethnographic region. Individual costume components and complete costumes can be rented by telephone appointment. On the village square stands the chapel Kaplička sv. Martina se zvonicí, which dates from 1855.

Routes

The marked Podluží cycling route runs through Starý Poddvorov and is part of the Moravské vinařské stezky network. A blue-marked hiking route also passes through the village and runs via Mikulčice, Josefov, Nový Poddvorov, Starý Poddvorov, Hodonín and Vlkoš.
