Louka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Návesní zvonice in Louka is a uniquely preserved example of the typical small-scale sacred architecture of the Slovácko region. Its history probably dates back to the early 18th century; the basis for this dating is a bell from 1715.

Culture

Attached to the Návesní zvonice is a niche chapel decorated with a typical blue floral folk ornament from Louka. The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Louka was built in 1999. The tradition of erecting a maypole is also maintained in Louka.

In the wider regional area around Louka are Branč [Podbranč], Kaštieľ Sobotište, Holíč Castle and Buchlov Castle; all four are castles.

Nature

Háj u Louky was designated a nature reserve on 1 August 1992. The area protects one of the most valuable deciduous forest stands with a predominance of hornbeam in the White Carpathians. From the road, Háj u Louky can be reached via a walkable hiking trail; the site is more than 250 metres from the road.

The mountains of Kobylí Hlava, Kobyla, Hradisko and Strana are located in the vicinity of Louka.

History

In 1926, a 20-metre-high and 209-metre-long railway viaduct was built between Louka and neighbouring Lipov on the Veselí nad Moravou–Myjava railway line.

Food and Drink

At the Lúcký košt trnek, visitors sample various spirits as well as plum-based foods, including plum butter, cakes and sweets.
