Petrov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The characteristic blue-and-white façades of the wine cellars in Plže are considered a symbol of Slovak winemaking and traditional rural architecture. Plže is also a vibrant center of the winemaking tradition in Petrov and a place for wine tastings.

Culture

Plže was designated a village heritage conservation reserve on September 15, 1983, and is considered a unique and particularly valuable ensemble of Moravian folk wine-growing architecture. The original purpose of the Zvonice v Rybářích was to warn of fires and possibly announce the time.

The Church of St. Wenceslas is also associated with several significant dates: its foundation stone was blessed in Olomouc by Pope John Paul II in May 1995. The foundation stone was laid on September 28, 1997; this laid the foundation for the September Festival in honor of Saint Wenceslas, which is considered a modern tradition in Petrov.

Holíčsky zámok, a château, is also located in the vicinity of Petrov.

Water

The Baťův kanál runs through Petrov and is an important tourist attraction there. It carries tourist water traffic between Otrokovice and Petrov, and possibly as far as Skalica in Slovakia. The port of Petrov has space for 47 boats. In recent years, boat rentals with refreshments have been established along the Baťův kanál in Petrov.

Landscape

Holý vrch, Veselka, and Kobyla are located in the vicinity of Petrov; all three are mountains. In the wider regional surroundings of Petrov are Kaštieľ Sobotište, a château, Branč [Podbranč], a château, Strana, a mountain, and Hrad Buchlov, a château.

Walk

The signposted walk “Od vlaku k vlaku – From Strážnice to Petrov” is an easy hike of just under seven kilometers.
