Žarošice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A fixed date in Žarošice’s annual calendar is Zlatá sobota: it takes place every year on the second Saturday in September and is Žarošice’s largest pilgrimage to Stará Matka Boží.

Culture and Faith

The Church of St. Anne in Žarošice was built in 1801 on the site of the former church. The interior paintings are by the Slovak painter Jano Köhler, who came from Strážovice. The church in Žarošice is open and offers an opportunity for prayer, confession and the celebration of the Eucharist.

The highlight of Zlatá sobota is an evening liturgy followed by a procession. During it, illuminated statues of the Virgin Mary are carried on platforms and Marian songs are sung.

Traditions

In August, the harvest festival dožínky is celebrated in Žarošice in traditional costume. In October, the Císařské krojované hody follow; they last almost five days and include the erection of a maypole, singing and dancing.

Museum

The Museum of the Municipality of Žarošice has six permanent exhibition areas. The exhibits include a screw wine press dating from 1805. In the museum’s workshop, visitors can also try making products according to old recipes and taste them.

Landscape

The healing springs in Zdravá Voda in Žarošice were used for treatments for many centuries; an abbess of the Old Brno convent established a bathing facility there in the 18th century.

The mountains Radlovec, Vinohrady, Nedánov and Vyšicko [Mutěnice] are located in the vicinity of Žarošice.

In the wider regional surroundings of Žarošice are Hrad Buchlov, a castle, Holíčsky zámok, a castle, the ruins of Dívčí Hrady, as well as Milotice Castle Park, a park.
