Ratíškovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Ratíškovice, the range of experiences extends from a one-hour ride on the Šlapací drezíny pedal rail carts and water and landscape experiences to sacred sites, museums and wine traditions. In good weather, the Šlapací drezíny can be rented for one hour to travel along three kilometres of the route around Ratíškovice.

Landscape

On the outskirts of Ratíškovice lies Hliník, a water reservoir and a place for walking, fishing, swimming and relaxing. A geological feature of the surrounding area is the Váté Písky. They were formed at the end of the Ice Age, 9,000 to 12,000 years ago, from wind-blown sands of the river terraces of the Morava.

In the immediate vicinity of Ratíškovice, Náklo offers views of the Chřiby and the White Carpathians. Paved cycle paths also lead to the summit of Náklo in the immediate vicinity. The cycle route in Ratíškovice follows the “Vinařská stezka Podluží” in the direction of Rúdník.

The “Doubravou kolem Vátých písků” cycle tour follows a blue-marked hiking trail to Ratíškovice and then continues along a paved road through the Rúdník stud farm. There are horses and sheep at Rúdník.

Culture

The Ve vagónu Museum presents the history of lignite mining in south-eastern Moravia. Another historic site is the Muzeum U Kronikářa, one of the oldest buildings in Ratíškovice. A typical three-room house can be viewed there. The Muzeum U Kronikářa can be visited by telephone appointment or during certain events. During “Víkend památkových domů”, a charity flea market called “Charitativní bleší trh” is also held there.

As part of the “Památky s příběhem” project, ten small sacred monuments in Ratíškovice were restored and fitted with information boards. The parish of Ratíškovice houses a restored wooden Madonna and Child, which is probably of Gothic origin and is officially listed as a cultural monument.

In the immediate vicinity of Ratíškovice lies Náklo, with monuments commemorating Slavic history, including a lily cross erected in 2004 in memory of Cyril and Methodius. The “Cyrilo-Metodějská pouť” pilgrimage from Ratíškovice to Náklo takes place every year in July.

Sacred sites

The Panna Maria Ratíškovická Chapel stands in the forest on the road from Ratíškovice to Hodonín. Opposite the chapel is a wooden pavilion with benches for sitting and resting.

Mass is celebrated in the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius; it was built in 1857. The church was consecrated on 4 October and dedicated to the Slavic apostles Cyril and Methodius.

Local life

Wine is processed and matured in the cellars of Slavín. Events for the public take place throughout the year in the Slavín cellar complex. In the immediate vicinity of Ratíškovice, a snack van at Salaš Rúdník is open from 30 April to 15 October, offering drinks including beer and lemonade, as well as smoked products.
