Hrubá Vrbka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hrubá Vrbka preserves folk architecture buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Several chambers have been preserved on the village square; on both sides outside the village, long rows of barns made of stone and mud bricks can be found. The Protestant prayer house dates from 1782 and features an unusual interior layout with two galleries facing each other.

Culture and History

The area in question in Hrubá Vrbka has been designated a heritage conservation zone. The protected stone chamber at house no. 87 in Hrubá Vrbka is built entirely of stone and served as a storeroom.

The Vrbecké Museum is located in a former Jewish farmstead. It displays collections of traditional folk culture objects as well as a furnished farmhouse from Slovácko. The museum also presents an exhibition on the legacy of the holy martyr Gorazd II.

The Fašank carnival tradition in Hrubá Vrbka has never been interrupted. The “zaCHRAŇTE stodoly” festival includes demonstrations of traditional crafts. The monastery in Hrubá Vrbka was founded in 1992.

Routes and Landscape

Cycle Route No. 5047 runs through the municipal area of Hrubá Vrbka and leads between Hrubá Vrbka and Megovka. The red-marked M. Kudeříková hiking trail runs along the southern boundary of the cadastral area of Hrubá Vrbka. The Kuželov cycling route passes through Hrubá Vrbka, Kuželov and Megovka.

The Vrbecko-Kuželovská educational trail leads through a picturesque landscape on the edge of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area in the vicinity of Kuželov.

Transport

Bus route 935 connects Kuželov, Hrubá Vrbka, Malá Vrbka and Velká nad Veličkou.
