Lovčice lies on the southern edge of the Ždánický les Nature Park, at the confluence of the Lovčický potok and Jordánek streams. The surrounding area features forests, orchards, fields and vineyards.
Nature, Trails and Landscape
A green-marked hiking trail, a cycle path and the Ždánickým lesem educational trail pass through Lovčice. The Žd. lesem educational trail forms a closed loop approximately 10 km long.
The Jordánek spring lies behind the pond on a forest road followed by a marked hiking trail, an educational trail and a cycle path. At Kříž na Hraničkách, there are tourist seating areas and a picturesque view of the landscape of Moravian Tuscany.
Culture and Townscape
In the centre of Lovčice, within the enclosure of a former cemetery surrounded by a wall, stands the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. The Empire-style building dates from 1805, and its interior is decorated with mosaics by Antonín Klouda from Prague.
The Fara parish house in Lovčice is a building constructed in 1914 in the style of architectural Modernism. Its façade features a fresco of Christ as the Good Shepherd by the academic painter Jano Köhler.
Above Lovčice, the chapel in Kučí stands amid fields and is visible from far away thanks to the large lime trees. In the local district of Roubaniny stands the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, a folk-style building probably dating from the 18th century. It offers views and shaded seating beneath two old lime trees.
Traditions and Special Places
In Lovčice, the traditional krojované hody festival takes place on the third Sunday in October. In June, the Petropavelský výlet event is traditionally held.
Ráj sukulentů u Honců is located in a greenhouse near a former forester’s lodge and includes more than 1,000 species of succulents. In connection with this, Jaroslav Honc regularly holds exhibitions in Lovčice twice a year.
