Labuty: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Labuty is an old wine-growing settlement in the valley of the Skalecký stream. The village lies at the confluence of the Skalecký, Josefínský and Labutský streams, at the foot of the 346 m-high Hačky hill. The landscape is gently rolling and crossed by three valleys formed by local streams.

Landscape and waterways

The Labutský stream is a left-bank tributary of the Skalecký stream. Upstream from Labuty, it has continuous, dense bank vegetation that includes alder, poplar, willow and ash trees.

Upstream from Labuty, the intermittent Labutský stream has a near-natural character: its streambed is structured, its bed is stony and shaped by sediment deposits. In the built-up area of Labuty, by contrast, the stream has a regulated trapezoidal bed with a muddy bottom and steep, grass-covered banks partly characterised by ruderal vegetation.

Culture and remembrance

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, with its bell tower, dates from 1834 and was built on the site of an older wooden chapel. The year 1940 above the entrance commemorates its last reconstruction.

The monument to headmaster Jindřich Škoda commemorates the headmaster who died in the Auschwitz concentration camp on 13 March 1943. The monument was unveiled on 11 November 1945.

In Labuty, a stone cross dating from 1904 stands at the intersection of the regional road and the village square. At the cadastral boundary with the municipality of Skalka stands a cast-iron cross on a stone base dating from 1905. A cross stands at the entrance to the built-up area of Labuty from the direction of Skalka.

Routes and views

The Cesta krajinou mikroregionu Podchřibí is a major route that connects the municipalities of the microregion with the Chřiby Mountains and leads to places of interest and through the surrounding countryside. The Rozhledna Súsedská observation tower stands in the Podchřibí microregion. It is 21 m high and has a total of 99 steps.

In spring 2021, rest facilities for pilgrims were installed in the Čtvrtky area of Labuty along the Cesta krajinou mikroregionu Podchřibí.
