Nenkovice is a place whose character is revealed through its history, sacred art, nature and wine route.

Culture and History

The bell tower in Nenkovice was built in 1912. Its sgraffiti were created by the academic painter Jano Kóhler.

Nenkovice was first mentioned in 1341. The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was created by converting a former funeral hall and was consecrated on 20 July 1997 by Vicar General Jiří Mikulášek. It includes a Stations of the Cross ensemble created in 2014 by the woodcarver Josef Zelinka from Šitbořice. A pilgrimage to the chapel takes place on the Sunday after the Feast of the Assumption (15 August).

Nature and Landscape

The Sovince protected area is located in the cadastral territory of Nenkovice. It protects thermophilic steppe communities on shallow to medium-deep calcareous soils, with numerous thermophilic plants and animals.

The Na Adamcích area is home to sub-Pannonian narrow-leaved dry grassland communities (Festucion valesiacae) and broad-leaved dry grassland communities (Bromion erecti), as well as rare and endangered plant species. The Nynek multipurpose water reservoir serves to retain water in the landscape and protect against flooding.

Routes

Nenkovice is part of the Kyjovská tourist wine trail, a tourist wine route.
