Vlkoš can be explored through a wide variety of places and topics: sacred architecture, Moravian cellar architecture, wine trails and military history collections shape the character of the village alongside traditional events.

Culture and Sacred Sites

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built between 1771 and 1780 on the site of an earlier Gothic church. Its furnishings are predominantly Baroque and include wood carvings by Ondřej Schweigl. Church services are held there.

Vlkoš is also home to the Chapel of Saint Florian. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands opposite the former estate in Vlkoš. The U tří svatých place of worship is located on the road out of Vlkoš towards Kelčany.

Wine Cellars and Cycle Paths

The Búdy complex is a row of 140 wine cellars. It features examples of original folk cellar architecture. The Moravská vinná stezka wine trail passes by the Vlkoš wine cellars; it connects the area around Uherské Hradiště with Znojmo.

The Kyjovská vinařská stezka wine trail begins at the former mill site in Vlkoš, near a Baroque chapel dating from the second half of the 18th century. Cultural and social wine events organised by Přátelé Achtele include Zarážání hory, which takes place in August.

Military History and Events

The Military Museum displays extensive collections from the Second World War representing all armies, as well as contemporary military exhibitions. Opening hours change weekly. School classes and other larger groups should arrange their visit individually by telephone at 608 025 233.

Vlkošské dny vojenských tradic is a two-day event with an attractive programme on Saturday and commemorative ceremonies on Sunday.

Transport Connections

Bus routes No. 664 from Kyjov to Hodonín, No. 665 from Kyjov to Bzenec and No. 666 from Kyjov to Osvětimany pass through Vlkoš.
