Onšov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Onšov is located on a plateau that slopes steeply southwest towards the canyon of the Dyje. This landscape brings together historical sites, hiking trails, bodies of water and natural areas around Podyjí National Park.

History and architectural heritage

Historical records mention Onšov in 1323 as part of the Vranov estate. The former Chapel of Saint Anne in Onšov was built in 1754 and had two small bells. The present Chapel of Saint Anne was built in 1835 to replace this predecessor.

The Čtyřboká poklona is a Classicist wayside shrine with four sides on a rectangular ground plan. It stands in the immediate vicinity of Onšov, on the edge of the Vranov Forest Park in the direction of Vranov nad Dyjí. According to art-historical assessments, the distinctly shaped trefoil gable refers to the cult of Panny Marie Třídubské.

Hiking

The Pěší Claryho okruh is classified as moderately difficult and is a 6-kilometre circular hiking trail. It leads through Onšov and turns left at the large chapel on the village square.

The Karla-Clary-Lehrpfad has six information boards and three benches. There is also a summit log at the viewpoint by the Clary Cross.

Landscape and nature

The Stříbrné vodopády, also called Onšovské vodopády, consist of five smaller waterfalls on the northwestern edge of Podyjí National Park, at the cadastral boundary between Onšov and Vranov nad Dyjí.

The left bank of Švýcarská zátoka on the Vranov Reservoir belongs to the cadastral area of Onšov. The Hamerské srázy nature reserve lies south of Onšov.

Water and trails

A boat landing stage on the Vranov Reservoir is located in Onšov at the address Onšov ev. č. 4, 671 02 Onšov.

Jízdárna Onšov is a station on an equestrian trail running through Podyjí National Park. The equestrian trail served by Jízdárna Onšov connects Znojmo with Vranov nad Dyjí. An equestrian trail also runs through Onšov.
