Lipov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the centre of the village of Lipov stands the Church of All Saints, the village’s most important landmark.

Nature

At the southern edge of Lipov, the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area extends in a narrow strip along the road from Tasov to Hrubá Vrbka. Háj u Lipova is a protected natural monument, first designated on 4 July 1956, which protects a habitat of the rare two-leaved squill.

Water and Activities

The municipal swimming pool in Lipov has a 33 × 20-metre stainless-steel swimming pool. Koupaliště Lipov also includes a 6 × 6-metre paddling pool and a water slide; a beach volleyball court completes the facilities. Koupaliště Lipov is located on the Velička in the foothills of the White Carpathians.

Trails

The Horňácký okruh cycle route passes through the cadastral area of Lipov. A blue-marked hiking trail also runs through Lipov, leading towards Veselí nad Moravou or in the opposite direction to Velká nad Veličkou and onward to Velká Javořina. The Strážnická route runs from east to west within the built-up area of Lipov. The Strážnická wine trail runs 64 % along roads with low traffic and 36 % along cycle paths and paved farm tracks.

Culture

In 1880, a new Neo-Romanesque Church of All Saints was built on the site of the former church. The Church of All Saints has an interior with wooden galleries and a decorated wooden ceiling.

The LIPOVJAN folklore ensemble was founded in 1972 and is named after Lipov. Lipov lies in the Moravian part of the White Carpathians and is one of the villages in the distinctive ethnographic region of Horňácko. In Lipov, LIPOVJAN organises the church feast, the Štěpánská beseda u cimbálu and Christmas singing, as well as, every two years as part of the annual Májová beseda u cimbálu, a regional round of the competition for the best dancer of the Slovak Verbuňk dance. Other important local events in Lipov include Lipovský fašanek, Lipovské hody and the preview performance of the Mladé Horňácko folklore festival.

The present-day traditional costume of Lipov differs from the costumes of other Horňácko municipalities due to influences from the neighbouring regional areas of Strážnicko, Veselsko and Ostrožsko. Lipov’s old traditional costume was reconstructed in 2000.

Wine

AGROLIP produces country wines, quality wines and wines with a designation of origin from grapes grown in its own vineyards in the cadastral areas of Lipov and Louka.
