Culture and History

Diváky is home to Zámek Diváky, a late Baroque building designed by František Antonín Grimm, an important Baroque architect. As a state cultural monument, Zámek Diváky is registered under number 30427/7-1191.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Diváky was built between 1873 and 1875 in the style of historic Romanticism, with predominantly Renaissance and Baroque elements. It was created by renovating an older building dating from before 1601. The church is mentioned for the years 1287 and 1351.

The Památník bratří Mrštíků is located in the family home in Diváky, where Alois and Vilém Mrštík lived. Visitors can view five rooms and the garden there. Audiovisual presentations featuring members of the Mrštík family accompany visitors through the rooms.

The Hody festivities take place in Diváky on the Sunday around the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on 15 August.

Archaeology

Hradisko Burberk is an important archaeological site in Diváky, classified as a hilltop settlement and fortified site. The oval hillfort lies on a small spur in Ždánský les and is fortified by a low embankment and a double ditch on the southern side. Settlement of Hradisko Burberk has been documented from the older and younger Iron Ages as well as the Middle Ages.

Experiences

The Velkopavlovická cycle route runs through Diváky. Coming from Šitbořice in the north, it continues eastwards and turns south behind the village towards Boleradice.

The hiking event Divácké putování Maryša has been held in Hustopeče every October since 1977. It is connected with the literary heritage of Alois and Vilém Mrštík from nearby Diváky.
