In Černá Hora, sacred architectural history, castle history and brewing tradition stand side by side. The parish church „Kostel farní sv. Vavřince“ was built in 1707–1710 on the site of a Gothic chapel; its tower was added in 1840–1842.
Culture and History
The Kaple sv. Rodiny is also part of the history of sacred architecture. It was built in 1726 at the expense of the clergyman Augustin Kavánek from Černá Hora and restored as a castle chapel in 1837. It stands at the summit of Paseka Hill as a central structure with an octagonal exterior enclosing an oval interior vaulted by a dome.
The Černohorský zámek was first documented as a castle in 1279. Hansen remodelled the New Castle in the pseudo-Renaissance style; by 1862, the reconstruction outside the tower had been completed. On 13 July 1866, significant negotiations on the terms of an armistice between Austrian representatives and the Prussian side took place at the Černohorský zámek, including King Wilhelm I, General Moltke and Chancellor Bismarck.
Routes and Landscape
The Stations of the Cross was created on the north-eastern slope of Paseka in 1864. It runs along the north-eastern slope of Paseka Hill with 14 stations and leads to the Kaple sv. Rodiny at the summit.
As part of the reconstruction of the Černohorský zámek, Paseka Hill and the surroundings of Oborský rybník were extensively landscaped as a park, including new paths and trails, rows of trees and terraces around the castle.
Beer and Brewing Tradition
Beer from Černá Hora was drunk at a Templar ceremony documented on 16 July 1298. Traditional brewing methods are used at Pivovar Černá Hora. Tours of Pivovar Černá Hora can be booked with at least one week’s advance notice.
The Muzeum pivovarnictví is located in the cellar of the Sladovna Hotel.
