Svitávka: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Svitávka lies in the extended valley of the Svitava and is geographically part of the Malá Haná region. The boundary of the Boskovická brázda tectonic depression runs immediately west of the town. Hradisko is a wooded hill directly above Svitávka, situated above the confluence of the Svitava and the Semíč stream.

Landscape and geology

Numerous fossils have been found at several shale outcrops on the eastern slope of Hradisko, including the rare fossil of a Permian arachnid. On the summit of Hradisko, the visible foundations of a medieval watchtower and the remains of a chapel have been preserved. On the walking path to Hradisko, information panel no. 4 provides information about the geology of Hradisko and the morphology of the surrounding area.

Culture and townscape

The parish Church of St John the Baptist is a Baroque building dating from 1703. In the square in Svitávka stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which is listed as a cultural monument and is a prominent landmark of the square.

Svitávka is home to two representative Löw-Beer villas, where the family lived for some time. The large Löw-Beer villa has an almost château-like appearance with Baroque and Neoclassical elements.

Museum and local history

The Svitávka Museum was established in the Löw-Beer estate. It documents the history of the Svitávka area from the Permian period through medieval settlement to the present day. The exhibition also includes films about the history of Svitávka, which are also suitable for schoolchildren to watch.

Events

The 20th Svitávecký Traditional Crafts Fair took place in Svitávka on Saturday, 6 September 2025. The Svitávecký Fair 2025 featured live music and a cultural programme, as well as a fire show in the evening.

Rail connection

Svitávka is located on the Brno–Česká Třebová railway corridor.
