Šebrov-Kateřina: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

On a rocky spur near Šebrov stands the Church of St Catherine, built in the 15th century in the late Rustic Gothic style. Šebrov lies in a lower-lying hollow at the confluence of streams in hilly terrain.

Culture and history

The church is traditionally dated to 1469; it is a three-nave building. In the front left section of the nave, a large tombstone is said to seal the entrance to a crypt beneath the church. The Church of St Catherine can be reached by IDS-JMK bus route 152 via the Sv. Kateřina stop.

Historically, the Šebrovka was a boundary stream that divided Šebrov between two estates.

Nature and landscape

The Vranovské lesy border the built-up areas of Šebrov-Kateřina to the north. The local Nezbedka biocentre encompasses the Šebrovka valley with meadows and adjacent woodland. The local Na Šebrovce biocentre encompasses woodland with a higher proportion of naturally occurring species.

Paths and views

The cycle route known as “cyklotrasa P. Bezruče” runs through the administrative area of Šebrov-Kateřina in a north–south direction, following local-purpose roads through woodland and along the Šebrovka River. The Pivní stezka Petra Bezruče runs along the route Vranov u Brna – Šebrov – Jedle Hill.

From the centre of Šebrov-Kateřina, a 1.2 km green-marked trail leads to a viewpoint near the Duchova rozhledna. In the surroundings of Šebrov-Kateřina, the Duchova rozhledna offers southerly views of wooded hills and the karst landscape of the Moravian Karst. There is a rest area with seating and a fire pit near the Duchova rozhledna.

Local tradition

During the Masopust procession in Svatá Kateřina, traditional koblížky and other small dishes are offered at the houses.
